Singapore

Clean, orderly Singapore was a welcome change from the grime and hassle of Bangkok. We learned why traffic was so light when our guide explained that a license to own a car costs $100,000 for ten years. Everything was shiny and spectacular, if a little sterile. After fighting for every inch in Bangkok, though, this was just what we needed.  Plus, MERLIONS!

We had dinner at the top of the historic Fullerton hotel Sunday, then took a tour of the city's ethnic neighborhoods and landmarks the next day. We visited the Raffles Hotel, home of the Singapore sling, and took a boat tour of the various quays.
