Exploring Reykjavik, Iceland

On Saturday, we started off at the Kolaportid flea market in Reykjavik to check out the food vendors, who carried traditional local foods like seagull eggs. Not being in the mood for a breakfast of fish jerky, we stopped by the famous pylsur (hotdog) stand, Baejarins. The line was always long, but it was worth the wait.

Next, we went to Lækjartorg square to meet up with our walking tour group, led by the witty Kevin, who was well-informed about Icelandic history, local legends, and local beer. Although it was overcast and chilly, we had a great time and learned more than we would have managed on our own.

We then went into the Hallgrimska cathedral, where the stunning exterior and amazing views were outweighed by the grim interior and lack of public restrooms.

After dinner at a new gastropub, we returned to the apartment to live like true Icelanders and watch the Eurovision finale.
